Pork steaks in a cabbagey, winey, mustardy sauce

It was while eating this dish this week that COD asked what had happened to my blogging. Hmm, seems work has gotten in the way and add to that children and life and blogging seems to have taken a back seat. No fear, I have been slaving away over the stove so quite a few to follow.......

So, here's how you make it

Ingredients:
Pork steak (1 per person and I use either shoulder or loin) or pork fillet
Cabbage - white or sweetheart and shredded finely
1 apple, chopped
1 heaped tsp wholegrain mustard
clove of garlic - crushed
glass of white wine
Leek (optional and shredded)
Olive oil
seasoning

Method:

Turn on the oven to 180 degrees
Season your pork steaks and rub liberally with olive oil
Put a shallow casserole dish (with a lid) on a high heat and sear the pork steaks on both sides. Once the steaks have a good colour on both sides, put in the glass of white wine and allow the alcohol to cook off. Crush in one clove of garlic. Add the cabbage and leeks (if using) and get them all round the steaks. Now add in the apple and the mustard. Stir all the veg and mustard together and rearrange the meat on top. Put the lid on and pop into the oven for about 20 mins.

While in the oven pop on some rice and veg - sweet potato works well with this or beans.......carrots would also work.

Serve with a dollop of my lovely apple and chilli jelly!
Searing the pork
Adding the cabbage
And serve with sweet potato and broccoli
